CADCO Focus Statement:
CADCO shall have a two-fold focus for its resources:
1. To aggressively
promote economic growth for Cass County through new and existing
industry and business growth and expansion, aiming for creation of
200-300 jobs in the next 3-5 years.
2. To engage
in activities which will promote the economic welfare of the people
of Cass County through cooperation with the area Chambers of
Commerce, City Councils and Mayors, the Board of Supervisors, and
other official commissions, boards and agencies in Cass County,
Iowa.
Goals for 2008 – 2009 Year

Develop and implement a
complete marketing plan using LOIS, alumni, finders fee, trade
shows and more .

Help market the Cumberland
Elementary School.

Facilitate the demolition of
the Wiota School building.

Participate in Alliant Energy’s
First Impressions community visitation program.

Increase the number of
hotel/motel rooms available.
-
Cooperate with the Atlantic
Chamber of Commerce to establish a hotel/motel tax and establish a
full time community promotion position to encourage conventions
and group travel in Cass County and the region

Organize a recreation task
force to work with Park & Rec and a tourism & promotion director
to create a tourism draw including coffee shop with wireless
internet access, improve city parks, develop intra-city trail
links, ATV park/trail system, develop a lake, improve amphitheater
seating for large events (fairgrounds), start an arts council,
open an art gallery. Develop hunting, fishing, golfing tourism
packages, expand the Coca-Cola museum, develop agrotourism and
farm tours.

Participate in organizing a
housing task force to increase options for first time home buyers,
retirees, higher-end housing, quality rental units, and extend
infrastructure for new lots.

Organize a group of volunteers
to assist with achieving goals.

Research bringing an insurance
company satellite to Atlantic.

Research developing a college R
& D incubator business.

Develop an IT task force. Items
to consider include wireless availability and high speed Internet
to the East Business Park.

Loan 100% of the Rural Business
Enterprise Grant (RBEG) money.

Help make the Air Race Classic
a successful event for the participants and community.

Market Cass County to alumni by
expanding the alumni database to a 30 mile radius beyond Cass
County.

Support the establishment of a
new licensed day care.
